COLONY began inside a life simulation game after it became clear that a single artist could no longer keep up with production demands.
Several identical artists were placed in separate houses.
They spent their time learning skills, making artworks, improving their careers, furnishing their homes and interacting with their surroundings.
Over time, unusual forms began appearing in their gardens.
The artists responded by producing a growing number of images, sculptures, masks, studies and portraits.
As the phenomenon continued, visual similarities emerged across their work.
The original simulation later collapsed.
The colony did not.
The artists continued to appear in other environments.
They migrated into AI image generators, videos, installations, sculptures and virtual worlds.
New members continue to arrive.
Existing members continue to produce work.
The exact size of the colony is currently unknown.
Additional artists are currently being processed.
