Ultramono AvantGarden exhibitions
Ultramono AvantGarden exhibitions: The second edition of Digital on Stage project was a meaningful experience. Grateful to KID KIBLA, Kilowatt Festival, CUBE Non-Profit Organisation, Intercult, Cultuurconnect for organizing this ambitious platform. Thank you to everyone who visited my Proto-machines Lab virtual world and engaged with my lecture. I appreciated the conversations, questions, and reflections.
Next, I’ll be showing my work SynthPets at SYNTHETIKA – Art and Technology, part of FILE 2025, from July 15 to September 7 at the FIESP Cultural Center, São Paulo.
Images/video: From the ongoing series: Calipso Operating System, 2025–ongoing.
ProtoMachines Lab at “Digital on Stage”
Looking forward to my presentation tomorrow as part of Digital on Stage.
I’ll be introducing a new virtual world, Proto Machine Lab, alongside a focused overview of my recent artistic practice.
The project will be on view at Kibla, Maribor, as part of the Digital on Stage program.
This presentation offers insight into my evolving exploration of virtual environments, immersive sound, and our entanglement with technology.
My work investigates transhuman figuration, techno rituals, speculative mythologies, and the poetic potential of glitch. The garden appears throughout my projects as a temporary autonomous zone and a philosophical playground. This ongoing inquiry into digital identities, synthetic ecologies, and Proto-Machines forms the core of my AvantGarden project.
Calipso Operating System (Voodoo Update)
Calipso Operating System (Voodoo Update)
"...This series delves into the subconscious life of the machine, through a speculative, tongue-in-cheek operating system running on the very 'Proto-Machines' inhabiting the AvantGarden. Through CalipsoOS, we explore the uncanny valley of emergent AI consciousness. In a world flooded with upgrades, beta features, and unstable updates, CalipsoOS channels the glitches of techno-evolution into a visual and sonic experience. In an era saturated with discussions—both utopian and dystopian—around artificial intelligence, CalipsoOS captures our collective unpreparedness and inherent naivety in the face of colossal systemic changes....The visual and auditory language of CalipsoOS manifests these moments of experimental yearning and anxiety. The series morphs from abstracted avatar portraits and fragmented computer interfaces into profound speculations on the biological computer. At its conceptual core lies the idea of an operating system called Calipso, a 'biOS'—an operating system imagined to be running entirely on lab-grown neurons. Within this speculative, fragmented storyline, the artworks envision scenes and images generated by such a biological intelligence, reflecting ghostly apparitions of memories, thoughts and feelings, prompting us to critically engage with profound ideas of consciousness, agency, and utopia in this hybrid future..."
CalipsoOS
This is a glimpse into CalipsoOS, the subconscious system running on the Proto-Machines of AvantGarden - few presentations rolling out in the coming months. Meanwhile, two new essays + my updated artist statement are now published on my site.
"...CalipsoOS captures our collective unpreparedness and inherent naivety in the face of colossal systemic changes. Rapid updates, untested developments, and ever-new versions of digital systems are constantly being deployed, often without full comprehension of their implications. This creates a pervasive sense of living through an ongoing, bizarre experiment, whether we consciously consent to it or not—from the clumsy movements of early humanoid robots in labs to the relentless pace of software development pushing new realities upon us...."
CalipsoOS
CalipsoOS is a new series of artworks emerging from the RezSelf project. It imagines a speculative, tongue-in-cheek operating system running on the Proto-Machines inhabiting the AvantGarden, exploring the subconscious life of machines and the uncanny valley of emergent AI consciousness.
In an age of endless updates and broken beta versions, CalipsoOS distills techno-evolution into a visual and sonic language. It captures the collective naivety and anxiety in the face of massive systemic change—where software pushes us into experimental realities we never asked for. Welcome to the glitch.
