An island of the AVANTGARDEN cycle, PHYSILIA is a biological world where unfamiliar beings cultivate strange environments, modify one another, grow structures and coexist. Here, difference is normal. Beings and humanoids, unusual species and minuscule creatures touch, observe one another, grow around one another, share water and occupy the same strange structures.

PHYSILIA is populated by unfamiliar forms of life. Its inhabitants emerge somewhere between organism, landscape and material. Some resemble bodies, others growths, structures or membranes. They gather, grow, observe, touch, float, migrate and coexist.

Among them are the AVANTGARDENERS: inhabitants of a world where biology does not follow familiar categories and where the distinction between body and habitat is unstable. Some appear as complete beings, others as partial organisms, composite forms or shifting portraits. Branches, leaves, water, membranes and other biological traces become part of their surfaces and bodies.

Their relationship with nature is neither separation nor return. They live inside an environment they need and cannot entirely control. Their bodies are protected, modified and mediated through layers of material: masks, surfaces, coverings and other forms of adaptation. Protection becomes part of appearance, just as exposure becomes part of survival.

PHYSILIA imagines coexistence not as harmony or uniformity, but as continuous adjustment. Forms change through contact. Organisms accommodate one another. Materials migrate between bodies and environments. Softness can become a form of adaptation, and difference can become a condition for living together.

The AVANTGARDENERS inhabit this unstable territory between nature and its technological mediation, between vulnerability and protection, between the biological world we depend upon and the synthetic world we have constructed around ourselves.

PHYSILIA is a place to encounter them.
