Synthetic Wellness Ministry

SYNTHETIC WELLNESS MINISTRY is a direct critique of contemporary wellness culture and its obsession with optimization, productivity, and self-management. It stages care as an engineered system that promises balance while demanding constant self-improvement.

The work takes the form of a simulated institution — a digital spa that recalibrates, upgrades, and cosmetically enhances its visitors. Neural tuning, artificial touch, and exaggerated aesthetics merge into a controlled sensory environment. Bodies appear as prototypes in permanent beta, continuously adjusted through sound, light, and vibration.

This Ministry does not offer healing. It exposes the mechanics behind the performance of healing. ASMR pulses, micro-ultrasound textures, granular beats, avatar whispers, and glossy glitches simulate serenity while amplifying overstimulation. What is presented as relaxation becomes modulation. What appears therapeutic becomes a system of subtle control.

At the same time, the installation acknowledges why these systems attract devotion. The sensory environment is genuinely pleasurable. The textures are immersive. The atmosphere can feel euphoric. Even as it critiques optimization culture, the work recreates its seductive appeal. The promise of recalibration, however artificial, produces real sensation.

Toy-like organisms, synthetic plants, and emoji-creatures act as wellness staff. They perform exaggerated rejuvenation rituals with visible artificiality. The humor is structural. The sweetness is deliberate. Care becomes theatre, but the theatre still affects the body.

By intensifying the language of self-care, biohacking, cosmetic enhancement, and digital spirituality, the installation reveals the pressure embedded in contemporary self-optimization. It questions a culture where rest becomes productivity, calm becomes a commodity, and pleasure is engineered for efficiency — while acknowledging that within these engineered systems, moments of release and sensory escape are still experienced as real.

SYNTHETIC WELLNESS MINISTRY turns wellness into spectacle in order to reveal its logic without denying its emotional pull.
